What is an IT Isolated Power System?

2024-07-17

The IT isolated power supply system is a power supply solution designed for places with high safety requirements, and its core is to isolate the phase of the power grid from the ground through an isolation transformer, so as to eliminate the risk of electric shock and ensure the safety and stability of power supply.

Definition: IT systems, i.e. neutral ungrounded distribution power supply systems, are specified in the International Electrotechnical Association IEC60364 standard. In the medical field, equipment with a rated voltage of more than AC25V or DC60V requires an IT system with an insulation resistance monitor.

Principle: The system uses an isolation transformer to isolate the phase of the grid from ground, thus eliminating the risk of electric shock. Tianjin IT isolated power supply system is not allowed to lead out the neutral wire, because when the neutral wire grounding fault, the insulation monitor can not alarm, the system may become TT or TN system,

and then cut off the power supply when the phase wire grounding fault occurs, resulting in serious consequences.
